Top tips to help you get the most out of the Locum's Nest app
With more and more organisations becoming available on the app, what better time to highlight some best practices to ensure you are getting the most out of the app.
Digital Passport
Your digital passport is the perfect place for you to keep all your documents in a safe digital vault, ready to be used when needed. Complete the different sections by uploading the relevant documents.
Key things to note:
Uploading the correct verification photos will ensure a speedy account verification without any delays. Guidelines for photos can be found in the Identity Proof section of the app
Uploading a copy of your CV will give the organisations you are applying to a better overview of your qualifications and employment history, and could speed up your application process altogether
Join a staff bank!
In order to experience the full benefits of the app, you will need to be registered with an organisation’s staff bank. You can send a membership request to your chosen organisation in the ‘Employer affiliations’ section of the app or contact their HR/Temporary staffing department directly and they will be happy to help you with the process.
The Digital Collaborative Bank
The Digital Collaborative Bank is a group of NHS Trusts that work together to allow doctors to cover shifts across the member Trusts’ hospitals.
If you are on the staff bank of one of the member Trusts of the Digital Collaborative Bank, you are able to apply and work shifts at all the Trusts in the Collaborative. This means you don’t have to go through additional HR checks or join each Trust’s staff bank separately.
You can identify the Trusts that are part of the Collaborative by the pink handshake icon (pictured above).
Filtering for shifts
Remember to set your preferred filters correctly to help you browse through shifts that are relevant to you. You can do this with the ‘Apply filters’ button on the homepage of the app and they can be specified by organisation, department, grade and availability.
You can also choose how you are notified of available shifts by setting your notification preferences in your profile page.
Timesheets
Aim to submit your timesheets as soon as possible to ensure prompt payment. Please note that all payments are processed by each organisation’s payroll department. Payment timescales do vary so please check with your organisation’s payroll department to find out what applies to you.
