Introducing Project Nest Quick: Empowerment Through Customisation

Dr Ben Herring,
GP and Product Manager at Locum’s Nest

At Locum’s Nest, we’ve always believed that great technology doesn’t just solve problems, it understands people. It meets you where you are, adapts to how you work, and helps you get things done faster, smarter, and with more control.

Today, we’re introducing the next step in that commitment: Project Nest Quick. It’s designed to give you more flexibility and faster results, without adding complexity.

The Problem with One-Size-Fits-All

We’ve spent years working hand-in-hand with NHS Trusts, agencies, and healthcare professionals and no two users are ever quite the same.

  • Some need to view their shift allocations by department and grade.

  • Others prioritise compliance details or rate escalations.

  • Finance teams want full visibility of spending.

  • Rota coordinators need fast access to specific timesheets.

But no matter how different their roles or routines, our users share a common need: to work more efficiently, with fewer distractions and less hassle.

In the past, our summary views have been helpful, but they’ve also been fixed, designed to suit everyone rather than adapt to individual needs. We're working to change that.

Project Nest Quick: Built Around You

Project Nest Quick is another step toward making personalisation a core part of the user experience as a design principle.

We’re starting by giving you full control over the summary pages you use most i.e., shifts and timesheets, or bids and invoices for our agency colleagues.

You can now:

  • Choose exactly which columns to see

  • Reorder them to fit your workflow

  • Set different views per tab each one purpose-built by you for your tasks

Whether you’re reviewing applications, verifying pay details, or narrowing down shifts, you’re no longer bound by defaults.

But This Is Just the Beginning

Project Nest Quick isn’t just about column controls, it’s about making the platform more responsive to how you like to work. In the coming months, we’ll be applying this thinking across the rest of the platform:

  • Customisable dashboards so you can spotlight the data that matters most

  • Tailored reporting views that match the metrics your team actually needs

  • User-level layouts designed around your workflow, not just our system

Why It Matters

As a Product Manager, I don’t see features as tickboxes, they’re experiences. And those experiences should feel intuitive, supportive, and genuinely useful.

That’s the thinking behind Project Nest Quick. It’s built on a simple principle: when users have the tools to work in a way that suits them, they move more efficiently, make decisions with confidence, and deliver stronger results.

And ultimately, that leads to better outcomes, for staff, for patients, and for the NHS as a whole.

Let’s Build This Together

As we roll out Project Nest Quick, I encourage you to try it out, explore what works for you, and make it your own.

Your feedback and ideas will play a big role in shaping what comes next; helping us build a platform that continues to adapt and improve over time.

Because this isn’t just a new set of features, it’s a commitment: the Nest should work around you, not the other way around.
