Iain O'Neil

Digital Transformation Director, NHS East Midland

Iain has held senior roles driving digital health in government, the NHS and private sector over 20 years, most recently as Digital Transformation Director at the East Midlands Acute Provider Collaborative.

Having joined the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) in 2017, Iain led the development of the digital strategy for DHSC and NHS England, before joining the leadership team of the newly formed NHSx. Iain worked on the development of the NHS App, the transformation of national screening, cancer and mental health services and was the Senior Responsible Officer for the NHS 111 Online service.

Through COVID, he worked on the Covid vaccinations service, digitising social care, and led the teams that created the messaging service for the 2.2m clinically vulnerable people and a digital health record system for those transferred from hospital to social care.

Prior to the NHS, Iain spent 15 years in digital and technology transformation roles in the private sector, including four years as digital director at Nuffield Health. Iain is passionate about leveraging technology to revolutionise every aspect of health and care, driving innovation and improvement across the NHS.

Will Monaghan

CDIO at University Hospitals of Leicester & University Hospitals of Northamptonshire

Will began his career in 2008 on the NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme and has since held key operational management roles in major teaching hospitals, overseeing emergency and routine care. He served as the lead Director for an elective care transformation programme within an Integrated Care System (ICS).

Currently, as Group Chief Digital Information Officer (CDIO) for University Hospitals of Leicester and University Hospitals of Northamptonshire, Will is leading a digital transformation to shift the organisation from outdated, fragmented systems to modern, people-centred digital ecosystems. His aim is to enhance both the safety and efficiency of delivering and receiving care.

Professor Tony Young

National Clinical Lead for Innovation at NHS England

Professor Tony Young is a NHS Consultant Urological Surgeon turned serial entrepreneur, founding four medtech start-ups. He’s Director and Chair of Medical Innovation at the School of Medicine at Anglia Ruskin University, and co-founded the £500m Anglia Ruskin Med-Tech Campus – a series of MedTech and advanced engineering science parks in Essex.

In 2014 he was appointed as the first National Clinical Director for Innovation at NHS England, and the following year founded the Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, the world’s largest entrepreneurial training programme for clinicians.

Tony’s work within the intersection of health and social care, technology, and life sciences aims to provide innovative solutions to the challenges facing the NHS for the benefit of patients and staff.

Sally leads the Improvement Team at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust in Surrey.

Starting her career as a physiotherapist specialising in musculoskeletal care, she discovered her passion for healthcare improvement while participating in the NHS Leadership Academy Clinical Fellowship programme. This led to a transformative career shift from clinical practice to improvement work.

With 13 years in improvement and 5 years leading the team, Sally combines her clinical expertise with leadership experience to drive positive change, focusing on enhancing both patient and staff experience through quality improvement.
