Not only will you get the opportunity to experience a new culture, but there’s also an opportunity for you to challenge yourself professionally working within a new healthcare system.

Head Medical has helped over 1,800 medical professionals find the career change they’ve been searching for abroad and one of the most popular regions we recruit to is Singapore!

Working in Singapore

Singapore has become a highly desirable destination for doctors looking to experience a different, forward-thinking healthcare service which is ranked highly in the global efficiency ratings and at the forefront of medical excellence in the region. You'll find exceptional professional development opportunities, enabling junior doctors to progress swiftly from training to specialisation.

It is a thriving cosmopolitan state with four official languages – English, Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil – although the Health Service is largely English speaking, making the transition for UK doctors relatively simple. Indeed, more than 30 per cent of doctors in Singapore are overseas trained.

The registration process for junior doctors can take as little as four months. International doctors are required to hold conditional registration with the Singapore Medical Council. This requires a medical degree from a medical school listed in the Second Schedule or an approved post-graduate qualification and you will initially work under the supervision of a Registered Physician.

Salaries are competitive and the taxation system in Singapore is amongst the lowest in the world (12.5-15%).
