Lara Mott is the CEO and Co-founder of ImproveWell; the award-winning, real-time feedback solution for improvement and everyday innovation in the NHS.
With an impressive array of experience in healthcare private equity, biotechnology and life sciences consulting businesses, Lara has a genuine passion for tackling key issues facing the NHS and other healthcare systems around the world. She co-founded ImproveWell in 2016 to empower frontline healthcare professionals to drive change.
In November 2017 Lara was named a “rising star” among the top 50 female leaders in UK healthcare. In 2019, Lara was a finalist for ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ at the ‘Women in IT’ and Inclusive Tech Alliance Awards and became the British Medical Journal’s first Entrepreneur in Residence.
ImproveWell has been nominated for several awards, such as the Nursing Time’s Workforce Summit’s 2023 Retention Shortlist and Health Service Journal’s ‘Workforce and Wellbeing Initiative of the Year’, while also winning ‘Major Project Go Live’ award at HTN’s Health Tech Awards and ‘Digital Solution of the Year’ in the Integrated Health Awards 2023. Lara holds a first class degree in Pharmacology from Bristol University where she was awarded the Hans Heller Memorial Prize for outstanding performance.

Professor Tony Young

Professor Tony Young is a NHS Consultant Urological Surgeon turned serial entrepreneur, founding four medtech start-ups. He’s Director and Chair of Medical Innovation at the School of Medicine at Anglia Ruskin University, and co-founded the £500m Anglia Ruskin Med-Tech Campus – a series of MedTech and advanced engineering science parks in Essex.
In 2014 he was appointed as the first National Clinical Director for Innovation at NHS England, and the following year founded the Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, the world’s largest entrepreneurial training programme for clinicians.
Tony’s work within the intersection of health and social care, technology, and life sciences aims to provide innovative solutions to the challenges facing the NHS for the benefit of patients and staff.
Rebecca Shipley
Professor of Healthcare Engineering and Chief Research Officer at UCLP, UCL
Professor Rebecca Shipley is Professor of Healthcare Engineering at University College London and Chief Research Officer at UCL Partners. Her research develops computational and data-driven models to simulate and optimise diagnostic tools and treatments, focusing on cancer, nervous system injury, and human physiology.
By combining engineering, mathematical modelling, and clinical research, she works to better understand disease and deliver innovative solutions that improve patient outcomes. She established and directed the UCL Institute of Healthcare Engineering and co-led the UCL-Ventura programme, which rapidly deployed non-invasive ventilators across the UK and globally during the COVID-19 pandemic.
At UCLP, Rebecca accelerates applied research across one of the largest academic health science partnerships in the world, embedding cutting-edge science and technology into health and care systems to support innovation and improve outcomes for patients and staff across the NHS.

Akta Raja is a Non-Executive Director at North West London ICS and an Advisor to UCL Partners, where she supports system-wide priorities to improve population health and integration of care. She previously took on the role as a Non-Executive Director at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, contributing to strategic decision-making across one of the country’s largest NHS trusts.
An entrepreneur at heart, Akta founded an envirotech start-up focused on delivering sustainable, technology-driven solutions, taking the business from concept through to growth. Her career spans healthcare, technology, and sustainability, bringing a unique perspective on how innovation can be harnessed to address some of the most pressing challenges facing the NHS and wider society.
Nigel Marsh
Strategic Healthcare & Workforce Advisor
Nigel Marsh has extensive international experience leading healthcare recruitment, workforce solutions, and healthcare services businesses across the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the UAE.
He spent 17 years at Medacs Healthcare, serving as MD and then CEO, where he built market-leading doctor locum and nursing businesses, developed the UK’s largest healthcare MSP workforce solutions business, and drove significant growth through acquisitions and organic expansion.
Nigel is now a Strategic Adviser to high-growth recruitment and workforce solutions businesses, supporting acquisitions, sales strategies, new revenue streams, and commercial due diligence. He previously held senior roles at PPP Healthcare / AXA Health, including Strategy and Corporate Development Director, and has contributed to the Laing and Buisson UK Healthcare Workforce & Recruitment Market Report.

Alex Ramamurthy is a committed entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in the tech startup ecosystem. He currently serves as the VP of Strategic Partnerships and Alliances at Stream, a role that leverages his deep understanding of technology and its application in creating meaningful social impact for over 3 million frontline workers.
Prior to his current position, Alex held key leadership roles as the former CEO of the Care Workers Charity, the former Chairman of the Care Innovation Hub, and former Founder/CEO of Mirthy, an age tech business. Through these roles, he has consistently demonstrated his passion for solving critical challenges within the healthcare sector.
